A US woman has mistaken nail glue for eye drops, resulting in a painful injury that saw her rushed to her local emergency room.

Mum-of-six Jennifer Eversole (@mamaeversole), who lives in California, explained in a TikTok video that she was distracted by one of her children when she grabbed the nail glue bottle and squeezed it into her eye, resulting in "intense burning."

"My eyedrops sit directly next to superglue and they are same sized bottles," Eversole explained in the video.

"I wasn't paying attention, I got distracted by my daughter and now my eyes glued shut."

"I can't really open up this other eye because it makes this eye move and it's all scratchy and itchy," she explained.

"What an idiot. Now I'm sitting here crying because I have no idea why, I just feel so stupid."

At one point Eversole asked a nurse if they'd ever treated people with similar injuries, to which a nurse said, "No."

"Girl I did that once but realized it as I was putting it in my eye and caught it close lmao," one TikToker shared.

"We should be friends haha."

"My eyes instantly watered," another said.

"The same thing happens to me but I didn't know it was super glue until I woke up in the morning," said another.

One TikToker commented: "Note to self: Never put super glue next to your eye drops. Hope your doing better."

"I did it with white out both eyes - scary scary er visit," another shared.

Thankfully no permanent damage was done, with Eversole making a full recovery in a matter of days.

When asked how she could have mistaken the nail glue for eye drops, she shared a video showing how similar the bottles are.

Eversole explained in a subsequent video that she'd wondered why the eye drops weren't coming out at one point and squeezed the container harder, missing an opportunity to "save herself."

"I've done similar and accidentally put the swim ear ear drops in my eye which hurt so bad," one TikToker said in response to one of Eversole's video updates.

"I put sinus nose drops instead of saline on my baby once. And never again did I sit them side by side again," another shared.
